When you need to modify the circuit board design or component information during the PCBA production or soldering process, you can perform the modification operation based on the production stage of the order.
1. Replace Gerber files / circuit boards
During the component inspection stage, at this point only the components are being checked and soldering has not yet begun. If you detect a design error (such as mismatched pad sizes, incorrect traces, or non-matching hole diameters) at this time, you can make the necessary modifications without affecting the overall delivery schedule.
Modifiable:
PCB structural dimensions (shape, hole positions, V-cut lines, etc.)
Pad design (size, shape, solder mask window)
Text layer or identification layer
Routing errors or inter-layer connection issues
If you notice these issues, you can correct the errors in your design software and export a new Gerber file. Then log in to www.pcbasic.com, re-upload the new Gerber file and place a new PCB order. Please note that you need to indicate the following in the order remarks:
"This order is for replacing the original order (original order number), and the original order will no longer be used."
After placing the order, please send the following information to your sales or customer service representative:
New order number
Modification description (specifying which layers and positions were modified)
Method for handling the old PCB (return / scrap)
We suggest:
The parameters of the new order must be consistent with those of the original order (such as the number of layers, board thickness, copper thickness, solder mask color, quantity, etc.). If there are significant differences between the new and old boards (for example, changing the number of layers or dimensions), please confirm with the engineer whether a re-evaluation of the quotation is necessary.
2. Replacement of components (change in model or packaging)
If you need to replace any component at any stage, please make sure that the package size of the new component matches the solder pads of the original PCB to avoid assembly incompatibility.
Please inform us how you would like to handle the faulty components. You can choose one of the following two options:
① Return it together with the PCB.
② It will be disposed of directly by PCBasic.
3. Update the BOM file
If you need to update the BOM, please provide the comparison information of the old and new versions to clearly show the differences of the modifications. Also, confirm that the model, description, package, quantity of all components are consistent with the pin numbers on the PCB. For components that do not need to be assembled, you can use a strikethrough or highlight to indicate.
4. Why weren't the PTH components soldered in the sample photos?
During the sample confirmation stage, you may notice that the PTH (plug-in) components in the sample photos are not soldered. This is a normal process. Because at this stage, we simply place the plug-in components in the correct positions to make it easier for you to confirm whether the direction and installation position are accurate. After you confirm the sample photos, we will perform wave soldering or selective wave soldering to ensure that all PTH components are properly soldered and complete the final assembly.
