NPTH (Non-Plated Through Hole) Design Rule – Copper Pad Conflict Detected

Reason for Failed Review:

Two holes in your design are marked as NPTH (non-plated through holes), but they also have copper pads on the copper layers.

This creates a conflict — if the holes are fabricated as NPTH while copper remains around them, it may cut through the copper area and cause open circuits or mechanical defects.

PCBasic needs to confirm whether these holes should be PTH (plated) or NPTH (non-plated) before proceeding.

Normally, if made as NPTH, PCBasic will remove copper 0.2 mm around the hole to ensure insulation.

PCBasic Suggestions:

•  NPTH holes should always be designed in copper-free areas to avoid electrical or mechanical interference.

•  Please double-check your hole and pad definitions before uploading files for review.

•  If copper pads appear around NPTH holes, PCBasic will raise an EQ (Engineering Query) to confirm before production, which may delay the lead time.

Following this rule ensures accurate hole classification and avoids unnecessary production delays.
