What Diameter of Via Should Be Covered by Solder Mask? | PCBasic

At PCBasic, we recommend covering vias with solder mask when the via diameter is below 0.35 mm, to prevent solder mask ink from flowing into the hole during manufacturing.

 

For vias larger than 0.35 mm, it is better to keep them open (solder mask opening) to ensure smooth fabrication and reliable soldering quality.
